I've noticed that every tram and bus in the ex-DDR seems to have an unique number.
Could someone tell us how the check digit for its number is calculated?
For example, I've seen the T6A2 with the number 226 003-7. I wonder what is the formula for the calculation of the check digit. It seems to be different from the one for locomotives. |

Here, I find on "DSO":
2 3 2 8 1 1: komplete carnumber*,
1 5 7 8 4 2: these numbers are the numbers of the operating point multiplied
2 +15 +14 +64 +4 +2: results, these are added together = 101,
101 - 4: from the sum subtract always 4 = 97,
99 - 97: check the difference to the next, the number divisible by 9 = 99, it is = 2
*For the low-floor-trams in Dresden: befor the carnumber is a "23" - so is 2811 = 232 811 (look on top)
The system is only in Dresden and Berlin official in use. In Leipzig is it unpublic.
T4D = 222 xxx (B4D = 272 xxx)
T6A2 = 218 xxx (B6A2 = 268 xxx) - only for Berlin
T6A2 = 226 xxx (B6A2 276 xxx) - only for Dresden, Leipzig
KT4D = 219 xxx
Worktrams= 751 xxx (Trailers = 251 xxx)
I don't no for more
